Treadwell Farms Partners with State Agricultural Organizations and is Recognized for Environmental Stewardship

UMATILLA, Fla. (November 19, 2021) – Treadwell Farms, a Florida family hemp company, is one of the first hemp companies in Florida to participate in the “Fresh From Florida” program through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). When a consumer sees the “Fresh From Florida” logo, they know it’s a high-quality product locally grown in Florida. In addition, Treadwell Farms was also publicly recognized through the Florida Farm Bureau Federation CARES Program for its exemplary efforts and commitment to protect Florida’s environment.

“We appreciate FDACS allowing Treadwell Farms to participate in this program,” said Jammie Treadwell, co-owner of Treadwell Farms. “For the consumer, where their hemp and cannabidiol products come from should matter. Our goal as a company is to provide the most high-quality products for consumers, from seed to package. It’s something we take very seriously and strongly feel that awareness of the supply chain from beginning to end is something consumers should care about. Floridians should be proud that FDACS has a program that promotes Florida grown products and protects consumer safety with rigorous third party testing standards. In turn, this allows us to let consumers know our products are grown, made and processed in Florida, and in my opinion, to the highest standard in the United States.”

FDACS has consumer safety standards from cultivation to end-product. All Florida-grown hemp and CBD products have gone through third-party testing and allow easy access to results on each product label through a QR code linked to the certificate of analysis of the hemp extract batch by an independent testing laboratory – all with the consumer in mind. All of Treadwell Farms products are grown, made, packaged and shipped from Florida.

“The ‘Fresh From Florida’ marketing program promotes Florida agricultural products and agricultural-related businesses through the use of its widely recognized ‘Fresh From Florida’ logos,” stated Donna Watson, industry communications manager for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. “The Florida Hemp logo helps consumers identify hempextract products that are processed and manufactured in Florida using Florida-grown hemp. Treadwell Farms is currently one of five hemp producers using this identifier.”

The Florida Farm Bureau Federation CARES Program stands for County Alliance for Responsible Environmental Stewardship. Treadwell Farms was the first Lake County farmer to receive this award since 2017, the seventh Lake County farmer overall, and the only Florida hemp farmer to date. Nominated by Lauren Norval, environmental consultant for FDACS Office of Agricultural Water Policy, Treadwell Farms received the award because of its implementation of best management practices for improving water quality. This includes nutrient management, irrigation management and water resource protection.

“Florida Farm Bureau is proud to honor our state’s greatest caretakers, our farmers and ranchers,” said Cacee Hilliard, assistant director of public relations. “The Treadwell family demonstrates exemplary efforts to protect local natural resources and be conscious of how their operation impacts local water quality. They are innovative environmental stewards who are a model for other hemp growers to follow. We are honored to recognize them with a 2021 CARES award.”

Treadwell continued, “It was such an honor to receive this award from the Florida Farm Bureau Federation. As a practice, we always look to establish what’s best for the environment. Because of the standards that FDACS has in place and under Florida law, it’s wonderful to know we’re doing everything right within its Agricultural Best Management Practices. It’s equally important to us that we keep Florida’s water quality as pure as possible to lend to continued agricultural productivity.”

Treadwell Farms officially launched the first of its CBD product line in May 2020, in tandem with the announcement of receiving one of the first hemp cultivation licenses in Florida. The company grows, formulates and packages a high potency, artisanal CBD line of 1200mg tinctures of hemp CBD extract, 600mg of CBD topical salves and 300mg hemp CBD gummies. The company also works with farm partners across Florida to grow and harvest hemp. Treadwell Farms offices and manufacturing facilities are housed within a former orange processing plant, utilizing the space and function used for oranges now for hemp.
